Streetchoir Sheffield 2010

Our thank yous

Street Choir Sheffield 2010 could not have happened without a fantastic team of amazing volunteers and partners both behind the scenes and front of house.  We are bowled over by your generosity of spirit and would like to thank the following people:-

Our major task volunteer team - these wonderful people organised publicity, worked out the scheduling for busking and gigs, organised and co-ordinated our weekend volunteers and stewards, liaised with our partner Sheffield choirs, organised the workshop leaders and signing up process, worked on design, got us discounts, sponsorship and special offers, bought the welcome bags, t-shirts and wristbands, got the programme collated, laid out and printed, and much much more …

TONY CLARK,  STUART BATESON,  JO GOODISON,  GILL DEAN,  LAURA RICHARDSON,  GILL BATTYE,  ROB MULVEY,  LENI SOLINGER,  JAN FLAMANK,  FELICITY BERRYMAN, STEVE PETTIFER & ANGIE PIESOLD

Our event & stage manager – the wonderful MAIRE MCCARTHY.  If you ever want to organise something in Sheffield (and beyond), hire Maire!  We don’t think she stopped for a minute on Friday and Saturday, not to mention the days of work in the build-up – and then she went off to run ANOTHER event on Sunday!  Thank you, Maire, your energy and attention to detail was inspiring.

Our weekend volunteers and stewards – too many to name, but you were wonderful and it couldn’t have happened without you!

Our comperes for the Friday and Saturday night gigs – NELL FARRELL, RIVER WOLTON, LYNDA JOSSE AND ROB MULVEY – you made us laugh, you announced us all beautifully, you held the concerts together for us.  And you looked AMAZING!

Our performing artists at the Welcome Concert – THE ANYTHING GOES ORCHESTRA, RICHARD BENN AND THE FREE RADICALS. What a start to the festival it was!

Our Sheffield partner choirs - BODY OF SOUND, PURPLE CATS AND SHEFFFIELD SOCIALIST CHOIR – for the support, volunteering, providing accommodation and sounding great.

Our Sunday morning workshop leaders -NELL FARRELL, ROWENA WHITEHEAD, EMER MCKAY, JULES GIBB, OLIVIA LESTER, MOIRA HILL, KIRSTY MARTIN, RIVER WOLTON, REBECCA GROSS, JANE EDWARDSON, TIM SMITHIES, FRANCES BERNSTEIN, ANDI JAGER & MATT LAURIE.  We’ve had great feedback about what you offered.  Double kudos to you all for working on Sunday morning!  Thank you  – and our love and thoughts to ANDREA SMALL, HELEN LYLE & KATE THOMAS who couldn’t be with us through illness.

The team at Sheffield City Hall – ALICE FITZPATRICK, GLEN CLARK AND SHARON  TORRENS (also a member of Out Aloud) – the team at SCH really couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful.  We really appreciated your can-do attitude and enthusiasm for the festival.

The City Centre Management Team - DEIRDRE PASHLEY AND RICHARD EYRE – who made all the busking sites possible, gave us funding towards the sound system and were so supportive of the idea of the festival.

Sheffield City Council’s Communications and Campaigns Officer – ROWAN HALL – who made sure the local press gave us wonderful publicity and coverage.

The sound team – TIM WALKER AND TRANSMITTA – for providing sound on Friday and Saturday

And finally – BECCA ROBINSON and all at the wonderful WHITBY COMMUNITY CHOIR for their help, advice and support, which we promise to pass on to next year’s hosts!!!  Could it be your choir?

With love and thanks from the team – Ian, Joy, Rosie, Sean and Val xxx

Adding my thanks to all of these people, and also to Out Aloud, for their wonderful performances on Friday and Saturday nights, and for looking simply fabulous, it was so moving to hear ‘I stand tall’ and Something inside on Friday and ‘Here is my home’ as they joined the audience on Saturday.
And to you, the SCF Team, who have worked so hard to make the festival such a success, Many thanks, and Congratualtions!

Dear Lisa – thank you so much – and you were such a star yourself, such a lovely, smiley, calm and positive volunteer. Thank you to you and Tom for all you did. Joy x
